The spreading advertisements of US AID in the west bank aim at making a beautiful image of this foundation and consolidating the impression that it is working for the good of the Palestinian people on behalf of the American people. Wherever you go in the west bank, you will see huge advertisements of a picture of a Palestinian man or woman thanking US AID Foundation where he or she confirms that the Palestinian and American peoples work hand in hand and in this way progress and prosperity are achieved or at least the living conditions of the Palestinian people are improved. The images clearly show huge smiles on the Palestinians' faces which indicate that their hearts are filled with joy and pleasure. The suggestion is clear and unequivocal i.e. had it not been for the charities of the United States, those smiles had not been there on the Palestinians' faces.
Who is the US AID Organization?
This organization was founded in 1950s as one of the Marshall Plan arms to rebuild Europe. It is the U.S. Agency for International Development. The United States announced that the purpose of establishing this organization is to provide humanitarian assistance to the needy or afflicted countries and people and to support the U.S. foreign policy through the promotion of democracy, capitalism and free trade. This organization is a governmental organization, however, the United States claims that it is independent, but in fact it reports to the U.S. State Department and coordinates with U.S. Secretary of State to support U.S. interests the world over. The United States government allocates almost 0,005 of its budget for this organization.
The work of the US AID
The US AID Foundation provides different assistance to many countries and peoples in the world. For example, it was quickly existed in Haiti to overcome the aftermaths of the devastating earthquake, it is existed in Pakistan to help ease the pain of flooding, it is existed in many areas afflicted by hunger, ignorance or natural disasters, and it also provides material and financial support.
The US AID helps build roads, schools, clinics and social centers. In addition, it provides assistance to the needy and afflicted people, and it also contributes to building water and electricity grids and others. You are mistaken if you think that this foundation does not ease the suffering of some people, or if you try to neglect its humanitarian role in many parts of the world, but you should be mindful of its political role in supporting the U.S. foreign policy, and in directing the disbursement of funds so as to promote this policy.
The work of the US AID in Palestine
This foundation has been active in the West Bank and Gaza Strip for many years, and is now active only in the West Bank because Gaza is out of eligibility according to the vision of U.S. foreign policy. In the West Bank, this foundation funds building roads. For instance, it built some roads, paved and rehabilitate others. It also contributes to building schools, clinics and social centers throughout the West Bank from Jenin to Hebron and from Qalqilya to Jericho.
In contrast, there are prerequisites required by the US AID for the disbursement of funds:
1 – Every Palestinian institution wishes to get material support should sign a document called anti-terrorism document which means that Palestinians must admit that they are against terrorism (i.e. the Palestinian resistance), and they must sign this document in order to get support. There have been many Palestinian institutions which signed it and got money, while others have not sign and have not get support.
2 – No Palestinian is employed in the US AID Foundation only if his stance against the Palestinian resistance and against taking up arms against occupiers was clear.
3 - The Foundation examines the security record of the person or the institution concerned where it resorts to the Israeli and Palestinian security institutions to provide it with adequate information. If it was proven that the person or the institution is still adhering to a national heritage, funds will remain out of reach. In contrast, if it was proven that the person or the institution has abandoned their national heritage and accepted the Oslo Accords, funds will find their way to them.
4 - Disbursement of funds are sometimes linked to normalization. Thus, the applicant should conduct joint work with Zionists in order to promote normalization with our Zionist enemy. There are, of course, some people who accept and do normalization activities.
The US AID Foundation in Palestine does not work far from the political U.S. goals and it does not provide money as charity for the sake of God, but rather it provides funds to achieve clear objectives fully consistent with the vision of the United States:
A – Promoting the Israeli-American project on the Palestinian cause which aims at dissolving and not resolving this cause by turning the Palestinians into disabled living on others.
B – Chasing the Palestinian resistance and destroying its infrastructure, and turning the Palestinians into surrendering just begging the occupier some compassion.
C – Promoting the positions of those who believe in peace with Israel on the grounds that there is no way to that peace but through pointless negotiations.
D – Promoting the roles of those who support normalization with Israel and empowering them to tighten the grip around the Palestinians' neck.
C - Supporting its personnel in the Palestinian Authority, and working on improving their images in order to be popularly accepted.
The U.S. objective is so clear: humiliating the Palestinian people where the US AID funds are used to contribute to this humiliation. The ultimate goal is to make the Palestinian people attached to the funds of others rather than upholding the inalienable national rights and contributing to turn the slogan of "we would rather accept hanger but do not accept enemy conditions" into "we would rather accept enemy conditions but do not accept hunger."
The essential question
Some Palestinians enjoying the US AID funds will argue that Palestine was sold and the struggles of people have been in vain, so, should we extol the Palestinian rights or should we take the American funds that contribute to improve our daily lives? Palestine has gone, should we lose it and lose the aid, or take what we can get? This is the logic that destroyed the Palestinian people. The slogan of saving what can be saved put us before more dilemmas and increased our concerns and pains. Decent people is the one who denies living on others, and refuses to give up its freedom for money or food; it would try all means if it wants to survive. If this had not been the case, some nations would have died and turned into slaves mastered by other nations toil, get tired and produce.
People tries all means to stand to its feet. Nothing stands in the way if it is armed by faith and the will to work. In contrast, if the people relaxed and asked where can we get the money from, it would face more dilemmas and humiliation.
We have leaders who are theorists of defeat, failure and weakness. They are the leaders that always ask: What is the alternative? How to eat? How to get weapons?...etc. These leaders were figured in order to spread theories of defeat and weakness. No doubt, they have achieved success to some extent.
I say to you: May God disgrace the people who does not have alternatives in order to remain decent. In the end, bread is not made but by free people. Bastards eat bread, but with shame, and the day will come when their bread maker throws them in the rubbish bin.
The price of the aid of US AID
US AID built beautiful roads, clinics and judicial courts, but, Oh people, this is the price of our homeland. They gradually bring people to the abyss. Are we going to change the situation we are living in, or are we going to do the same things we know they are errors?
