حَجْمُ الخَلاَيا المُكَدَّسَة

also called hematocrite, is the proportion of blood volume that is occupied by red blood cells. It is  normally about 48% for men and 38% for women.

يسمى أيضاً الهيماتوكريت وهو نسبة حجم الدم الذي تشغله الكريات الحمر. قيمته الطبيعية عند الرجال 48% وعند النساء 38%.

PCR: polymerase chain reaction

a highly sensitive test that can detect small amounts of DNA or RNA in blood or tissue samples using an amplification technique that multiplies the existing DNA/RNA so that it can more easily be detected.
It is a very sensitive test for the presence of HIV

اختبار عالي الحساسية يمكن أن يكشف كميات قليلة من الدنا أو الرنا في عينات الدم أو النسيج باستخدام تقنية مضخمة تضاعف الدنا أو الرنا الموجود "في العينة" وبالتالي يمكن كشفها بسهولة.
وهو اختبار عالي الحساسية لكشف وجود فيروس نقص المناعة المكتسب.

مرض معمم ، يحدث غالباً عند النساء، و يؤثر بشكل رئيسي على النسيج الضام. التهاب المفصل هو التظاهرة السريرية المسيطرة متضمنةً إصابة عدة مفاصل وبخاصة مفاصل القدمين و اليدين، مترافقةً مع زيادة سماكة أنسجة المفصل الرخوة مع تمدد النسيج الزليلي على الغضروف المفصلي الذي يصبح متآكلاً :

مسار المرض متغير لكنه غالباً ما يكون مزمن و متطور مؤدياً لحدوث التشوهات و الإعاقة.

تواتر التنفس، يحسب بعدد مرات التنفس بالدقيقة.
القيم الطبيعية:
40 – 50 مرة بالدقيقة لحديثي الولادة.
20 – 25 للأطفال الأكبر سناً.
12 – 20 للمراهقين و البالغين.   
يزداد معدل التنفس عن الطبيعي في: الحمى، الأخماج الرئوية الحادة، التليف الرئوي المنتشر، الغرغرينا الغازية، قصور البطين الأيسر، الإنسمام الدرقي، حالات التوتر.
و يكون أقل من الطبيعي في: إصابات الرأس، الغيبوبة، الجرعات الزائدة من المخدرات.

أكبر معدل لتدفق الهواء الممكن تحقيقه خلال زفير قسري، و ذلك ابتداءاً من رئتين مملوءتين. (أي هو أكبر كمية هواء مزفورة بعد أخذ شهيق أعظمي).

التاريخ الطبي (المرضي)

It  is the total sum of a patient's health status prior to the presenting problem including major illnesses, any previous surgery/operations, any current ongoing illness, e.g. diabetes

وهو مجموع الحالات الصحية للمريض السابقة للمشكلة الحالية ويتضمن الأمراض الكبيرة، أي جراحات سابقة أو عمليات جراحية، أي أمراض حالية مستمرة كالداء السكري.

PVD=Peripheral Vascular Disease

داء الأوعية المحيطية

This refers to diseases of blood vessels outside the heart and brain. It's often a narrowing of vessels that carry blood to the legs, arms, stomach or kidneys. There are two types of these circulation disorders:
• Functional peripheral vascular diseases don't have an organic cause. They don't involve defects in blood vessels' structure. They're usually short-term effects related to "spasm" that may come and go. Raynaud's disease is an example. It can be triggered by cold temperatures, emotional stress, working with vibrating machinery or smoking.
• Organic peripheral vascular diseases are caused by structural changes in the blood vessels, such as inflammation and tissue damage. Peripheral artery disease is an example. It's caused by fatty buildups in arteries that block normal blood flow.

يشير إلى أمراض الأوعية الدموية خارج القلب والدماغ. عالباً ما تكون عبارة عن تضيق الأوعية التي تحمل الدم إلى الرئتين، الساعدين، المعدة أو الكليتين. هناك نمطان من هذه الاضطرابات:
1- أمراض الأوعية المحيطية الوظيفية التي ليس لها سبب عضوي. وهي لا تتضمن عيوب بنية الأوعية الدموية. لها تأثير قصير الأمد وتتعلق بتشنج يأتي ويذهب. كمثال داء رينود. يمكن أن تحرض بدرجة الحرارة المنخفضة، الشدة العاطفية، العمل على آلات مهتزة أو التدخين.
2- أمراض الأوعية المحيطية العضوية وتكون بسبب تغيرات بنيوية  في الأوعية الدموية مثل الالتهاب وتخرب الأنسجة. كمثال داء الشريان المحيطي ويكون بسبب بنى شحمية في الشرايين تسد جريان الدم الطبيعي.

SBP: Spontaneous bacterial peritonitis

التهاب الصفاق الجرثومي التلقائي (العفوي)

It is the development of peritonitis (infection in the abdominal cavity) despite the absence of an obvious source for the infection. It occurs almost exclusively in people with portal hypertension (increased pressure over the portal vein), usually as a result of cirrhosis of the liver. It can also occur in patients with nephrotic syndrome.
The diagnosis of SBP requires paracentesis (aspiration of fluid with a needle) from the abdominal cavity. If the fluid contains bacteria or large numbers of neutrophil granulocytes (a type of white blood cells), infection is confirmed and antibiotics are required to avoid complications. In addition to antibiotics, infusions of albumin are usually administered.

هو تطور التهاب الصفاق (انتان الجوف البطني) على الرغم من غياب أي مصدر مسبق للعدوى. يظهر بشكل خاص عند المرضى الذين يعانون من ارتفاع ضغط بابي (ارتفاع الضغط في الوريد البابي)، عادة كنتيجة لتليف الكبد. كما يمكن أن يظهر عند مرضى المتلازمة النفروزية.
يتطلب تشخيص SBPبزلاً من الجوف البطني. إن كان السائل محتوياً على جراثيم أو عدداً كبيراً من العدلات يتم تأكيد التشخيص ونحتاج المضادات الحيوية لتجنب المضاعفات. بالإضافة للمضادات الحيوية يتم أيضاً تسريب الألبومين.
